As of last night, their food is quite good, but not as good as what can be had, e. Rosa excels in their sauces: the 3 different sauces in the Tres Enchiladas were superb; but, of course, the chicken dry-ish and without flavor was a let down because it was U.
I'll be clear: I wasn't disappointed; I just wasn't thrilled. The ambiance is nice but somehow too crowded. There seems always to be a crowd of servers and other staff on the floor when one is entering, leaving, or going to the restrooms. The flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was superb, as are the desserts these days in all the better restaurants. Rosa Mexicano still delivers great Mexican food and drinks after all these years. Overall food and drinks were great. For bottomless service was very sub-par.
We were left in attended for a over 30 minutes and our server passed us multiple times to attend to other parties. When he finally showed up 30 minutes after our drinks were empty he said this is last round and we then waited another 20 minutes for the check. Food was ice cold, sparse and not fresh.
No decaf coffee. When I asked for tea, the service person brought out 3 teabags in his hands for me to choose. No milk or sugar. Service very slow. To reach the handicap bathroom I had to exit the building and walk around the corner. It was noisy and they had seated us outside the kitchen. Great food, drinks and vibe at Rosa Mexicano!!
As usual, the food was terrific and the service was great. Would recommend anyone to go. The food was very good. The service was pretty poor. Having dined there in the past, we would still recommend the place.
Always enjoy my meals with Rosa Mexicano! Loved the Paloma cocktail! Brunch was as expected. Always order the guacamole, their signature dish, but add more lime and salt if your taste buds align with ours. What we had forgotten was the upstairs is infinitely nicer , especially for brunch, with large windows looking at tree lines. It certainly is nice having a restaurant that opens at 11 am, so as to not rush lunch yet still have time to cross the street to opera at Lincoln center.
Terrible service, rude staff. Will not return We had dinner and drinks before seeing the Met Opera last Friday.
Just before asking for the check, my girlfriend asked for another drink, as I was still sipping mine. The check and the drink came at the same time. We paid the bill, but sent the drink back because it wasn't what we thought we ordered. The manager was very attentive at first, insisting that they would be happy to make us a new one. After 30 minutes, the drink never came.
Since the opera was starting, we began to leave and asked for a refund on the drink. They refused, insisting that the drink had been served. This was very disappointing, as I had previously dined here on other occasions, and had enjoyed myself well. After much protesting on our part, both the manager and server insisted that we were simply "misremembering" and that we would not be refund for the drink. This made my girlfriend feel anxious and uncomfortable, as the clear implication was that we were somehow trying to cheat the restaurant.
We opted to simply leave, and decided to not let this distasteful experience ruin our night. We saw Nessun Dorma performed for the first time, and ended up having a beautiful night at the Opera, no thanks to Rosa Mexicano. We ordered ceviche, empanadas, steak and fish tacos. I would recommend the empanadas and fish tacos. The sauce that came with the empanadas was delicious. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. The noise in the restaurant made it hard to enjoy dinner.
I will advice to seat away from the door that opens to the outside dinning area. Friendly service and great quality food. Great date atmosphere. Overall a good dining experience. The staff is good about checking vaccination status and offering hand sanitizer. The salmon was quite good. The only negative was the portion size on the guacamole was relatively small.
We had a 4 pm reservation for a 6 pm opera performance. We shared a shrimp cocktail, carne asada tampiquena, flourless chocolate cake, margaritas and Mexican coffee at snd. Everything was delivered very quickly, in relaxed pace, and was delicious and well prepared.
This is not our first time at this excellent establishment. I do like they they charge separately for tortilla chips so I do t get tempted to stray from my diet. Portions are good and not humongous, also good for my diet program, but more than enough for two to share.
Highly recommend the Mexican Wedge Salad and appreciate the nice distancing between tables. Authentic, delicious food. Attentive service. Highly recommend. Really lackluster across the board.

As you can see, I recommend coming to Rosa for the food, but who wants to slurp on margs and indulge in a big bowl of guac with a boring crowd? One thing I love about Rosa is that you can find the vibe you are looking for depending on which location you go to. For example, Lincoln Center is a little more date night or casual dinner, while the Union Square location is a bit of a younger crowd and a good drink spot to meet the girls. Last but certainly not least, if you have ANY room left yes, you must , order the churros.
